Johannesburg - President Cyril Ramaphosa has released an official statement, congratulating Zozibini Tunzi on her Miss Universe win.

Zozibini scooped the title on Sunday in Atlanta, Georgia, taking over the title from Catriona Gray of the Philippines.

"Congratulations to our #MissUniverse2019 @zozitunzi. I too hope children the world over will see their faces reflected in yours & be inspired to believe in the power of their dreams. May young women continue to take up space & leave an indelible mark on society, just as you have," the tweet from the president's account reads.

Other well-known names who have taken the time to congratulate Zozibini include Trevor Noah and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters.
