WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. airlines set to receive $25 billion in an initial tranche from the Federal Government may not be in for a free ride.
The government says it may seek equity participation or some other type of compensation for its funding.
The U.S. Treasury Department said Monday the payments to the airlines would not be gifts. A need for the funds will have to be established
Strict terms and conditions will apply. Airlines will need to commit to not laying off staff, or reducing pay for at least six months.
